Saint Marcel, immersed in a mountain context, has undertaken a path of valorization of its local energy resources, focusing on a diversified generation from renewable sources (photovoltaic, biomass, hydroelectric) and on a strong involvement of the community. Thanks to the exchanges facilitated by the Smart Rural Village network, the Municipality has had the opportunity to learn about the energy token system tested in Stanz im Murztal which has demonstrated how energy can become not only a shared good, but also a tool for the local economy. “Stanz Token: Examining opportunities to combine a digital local currency with a renewable energy community in Stanz im Mürztal”
The value of these initiatives, as underlined by the mayor of Saint-Marcel, Andrea Bionaz, lies not only in technological innovation, but also in the ability to create a direct link between production and consumption, promoting the autonomy and resilience of local communities and the consolidation of its local relational fabric, an authentic strategic asset for the future of our mountain territories.
In this perspective, SUN4U has started a dialogue with Saint Marcel to jointly explore two areas of development: on the one hand, the integration of the solutions already available in the SUN4U app; on the other, the creation of a customized version adapted to the specificities of the Aosta Valley territory.
